Bandwidth / Data Size Converter

ISPs and speed tests quote Mbps (megabits per second), but download managers show MB/s (megabytes per second) — an 8× difference that trips everyone up. This converter settles it instantly.

For example, a 100 Mbps line tops out around 12.5 MB/s. Useful when picking a proxy / VPS plan or estimating data quotas. A data-size (B / KB / MB / GB / TB) converter is included below.

FAQ

How much is 100 Mbps in MB/s?

About 12.5 MB/s (100 ÷ 8). Bandwidth is bits (Mbps), file size is bytes (MB); 1 byte = 8 bits.

Why is my download only 1/8 of my bandwidth?

It isn't slow — it's units: Mbps is bits, MB/s is bytes, which works out to an 8× difference.

Is GB based on 1000 or 1024?

Data sizes here use 1024, closer to the file sizes your OS shows.
